became the absolute winner of the Prague Spring International Music Competition in 2004 and had already won prizes in many important competitions at home and abroad, including the Maria Canals Piano Competition in Barcelona, the Vendome Prize in Vienna and the Stiftung Tomassoni Wettbewerb. As a soloist he has been invited to join prestigious orchestras worldwide (BBC Symphony Orchestra, WDR Cologne, Essener Philharmoniker, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra). In 2014 he performed Bohuslav Martinů's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Berlin Philharmonic under Sir Simon Rattle. Ivo Kahánek studied at the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava in the class of Mgr. Marta Toaderová and at the HAMU in Prague in the class of Prof. Ivan Klánský. He also completed a semester of postgraduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London under Ronan O'Hora. He is an exclusive artist of the Supraphon recording company and a member of the Dvořák Trio. He teaches at the Prague Conservatory and the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
