About
The Chamber Academy Central Bohemia supports talented young musicians from the Czech Republic and provides instruction in chamber music. The courses are organized as projects during which scholars and their instructors work together to prepare a programme that is subsequently performed at several concerts concluding the course. Each year, selected students receive scholarships from the Academy to cover their study costs, including accommodation and board.
Thanks to close co-operation with the German foundation Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz, the Academy has international reach. This gives Czech students an opportunity to meet and perform with top students and instructors from German universities. Each year, selected instructors and soloists from the Czech Republic join their counterparts from the Villa Musica foundation.
The Chamber Academy Central Bohemia’s projects are supported by the Czech-German Fund for the Future, Central Bohemian Region, Czech Ministry of Culture and other entities.
The Chamber Academy Central Bohemia’s patrons are the Governor of the Central Bohemian Region and Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Orchestra of the Chamber Academy Central Bohemia
The Orchestra of the Chamber Academy is an ensemble composed of excellent Czech and German students which performs mainly in the Central Bohemian Region. It staged its first concerts in 2018 in Poděbrady, Kutná Hora and Kostelec nad Černými lesy under the guidance of musicians from the Berlin Philharmonic.
The intention of the Orchestra, performing without a conductor, is to achieve an effect identical to performing chamber music through maximum concentration and mutual listening. While embracing classical music of all periods, including contemporary music, the Orchestra focuses on the repertoire of the Classical and Romantic periods.
Cello player Tomáš Jamník is the Artistic Director of the ensemble and the role of artistic patron has been graciously assumed by conductor Jakub Hrůša.

Support us
By supporting the Chamber Academy Central Bohemia, you enable us to support:
Talented musicians
Students of the Academy receive three-year scholarships enabling them to participate in all projects free of charge. We cover the costs of students’ travel, accommodation and board and all other expenses. These scholarships enable them to perform regularly in concerts under the guidance of professional instructors and musicians. The Academy is a springboard for talented students who are just about to embark on their professional careers.
Education of children
We help educate young children because we realize that the level of culture in a society goes hand in hand with its level of contentment. Furthermore, if new young listeners are not attracted to classical music, the genre will face a severe lack of audiences. We have developed educational programming for preschool and school children in collaboration with the Berlin University of the Arts.
Dissemination of culture
The level of culture in large Czech cities is at an adequate level in comparison with advanced European countries, but support of culture in Czech regions beyond the major cities lags behind. The Academy focuses on finding new concert venues and supports concerts even in smaller towns. Building an array of quality cultural events that extends to Czech regions depends on patient and long-term efforts.

Information for students
Chamber Academy Central Bohemia scholarships are intended for students between the ages of 18 and 26. They cover all costs associated with participation in projects (tuition, accommodation, board and transport).
Each project is comprised of a preparation phase, during which the scholars and the instructor prepare the concert programme together at the selected venue. The highlight of each project are final concerts for the public in Czech or German cities. There are always at least three concerts in each project, which give students a unique opportunity to gain experience performing before an audience.
The Academy’s goal is to provide the best conditions for top-level students and instructors for learning and preparing the selected repertoires. Owing to the broad spectrum of instruments, less frequently performed works ranging from trios to nonets can be included.
Students are required to have at least basic knowledge of English or German in regard to the Academy’s international collaboration. Students from the Czech Republic or Slovakia, or students studying in these countries, may become members of the Chamber Academy Central Bohemia
There are no auditions scheduled at the current time.
